Has It Really Been 25 Years ?

Live Aid - 1985.
The top photo is the very first public appearance of Teddy Pendergrass after his accident where he appeared with the duo Ashford and Simpson.
We all know who the second one is.
Twenty five years ago , I remember that the office was still open on Saturdays for a half day and the PTB's were gone..so we cranked this mutha up !
First Live Aid, then Farm Aid..
Now is seems so quaint and sweet...there is so much more wrong with the world...among other things day 85 in the gulf, and year 9 if the war.
We may never see another concert where we actually think that we can make a difference and that our voices count.
Yes, we've done concerts for 9/11, the military, Jamaica, Haiti, Katrina, Rita, Ike and on and on and on until they no longer register for the cause or the plight.
There are still caring people out there , and I like to think that I am one...but looking at the photo's of that first concert...I am struck by a sense of lost innocence in some way.
Thoughts anyone ?

I think you hit it on the head. The innocence is gone and we know our participation is a starfish moment. I hope we can at least hold on to that.

Hopefully some day, some time, we will be innocent and hopeful about something else. The hope is our specie's life blood.

As you pointed out, sadly, we humans do tend to beat a good idea to death. (sequels, endless rip offs of a popular show format and, of course, charity concerts) Don't know if it's our culture or if this is just a human tendency and simply obvious now, in this age of mass communication.

No, The innocence isn't gone. It has just tranferred to the next generation.

Thre will always be more people to be innocent and believe they can change the world.

And hey, some people did change the world 25 years ago.

(Still amazed by the next generation)

Excellent point about the next generation CT!! Those who have lost innocence can still have hope, too.
